Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 devices are gaining a new feature that translates battery stats into plain language. Rolling out through an AI Core update, “Battery usage summaries” adds an AI-generated overview at the top of the Battery usage page, without requiring a full system update.
What Battery Usage Summaries Does
The feature works by taking the existing battery consumption data — overall drain, app-specific usage, screen-on time — and summarizing it in a short natural-language paragraph. Google’s implementation compares the selected time period against the device’s recent average, highlighting anomalies and significant changes rather than listing raw numbers.
The summary appears automatically at the top of Settings > Battery & charging > Battery Usage. It is enabled by default on supported devices and refreshes as new data becomes available. According to 9to5Google, which first spotted the rollout, the outputs “vary and highlight the most important info only,” meaning users won’t see the same boilerplate every time.
Device Availability and Requirements
The feature is rolling out to Pixel 10, Pixel 11, and their Pro and Fold variants. Google’s support documentation links the feature to the latest AI Core update, so devices that have not received recent AI Core patches may not see the summary even if they are otherwise compatible. No additional hardware requirements beyond a supported Pixel have been confirmed.
If the summary does not appear on a Pixel 10 or later device, the first check is whether AI Core is up to date. Open the Play Store, search for “AI Core,” and verify the installed version is the latest available. A device restart after updating may also be necessary.
How to Disable It
Users who prefer the traditional raw data view can turn the feature off. The toggle is in a less obvious place: from the Battery Usage screen, tap the overflow menu (three-dot icon) and look for the Battery usage summaries entry. Disabling it restores the classic chart-and-list layout without the AI-generated blurb.

If you find the summary useful but occasionally misleading, remember that it reflects the same data already visible in the charts. It is an interpretation layer, not new diagnostic information.

The same AI Core pipeline that powers this feature also handles other on-device AI features.
